NO TIME FOR NON SENSE
Acrylic on canva - 73 x 92 cm
This painting was born from a growing sense of exhaustion while observing modern relationships and today’s society. A world where so many people seem interchangeable. The same attitudes.
The same superficial conversations. The same empty connections. In the background, the identical falling men are a direct reference to René Magritte’s Golconda. But unlike Magritte’s figures standing upright, mine are falling backwards. Because to me, they symbolize people without direction, depth or meaning, individuals trapped in repetition, appearances and emotional emptiness. The woman no longer tries to save or elevate what no longer makes sense. She stops fighting against mediocrity and chooses herself instead.
She chooses solitude over the ordinary. And she moves forward. The melting watch she points at is inspired by Salvador Dalí’s soft clocks. Here, it symbolizes how time becomes distorted, wasted and heavy around “soft” people… without substance, vision or emotional intelligence. Some people make time feel alive. Others make it feel empty. Hidden among the falling figures is a tiny Charlie Chaplin.
For me, Chaplin has always represented sensitivity, intelligence, humanity and depth hidden behind simplicity. His discreet presence inside the chaos acts almost like a silent resistance against conformity. This artwork is ultimately a statement about individuality, emotional awareness and refusing to settle for superficiality. In many ways, it is also a feminist piece. Not in the sense of rejecting men, but in rejecting the expectation that women should endlessly carry, fix or tolerate what diminishes them. It is about having the courage to walk away from what lacks soul. And refusing to become ordinary just to belong.
