At first glance, she seems to blend into the crowd. But she is not part of it. She observes. The thermometer in her mouth is symbolic. She is taking the temperature of the society around her, trying to understand the world she lives. And more importantly...Has it already contaminated her without her even realizing it? What she sees worries her… A world where too many people have become disconnected from themselves. A world driven by ego, appearances, power, money and validation. A world where substance is often sacrificed for image. Every day, the news reminds us of both the beauty and the darkness humanity is capable of. Violence, manipulation, greed, cruelty, superficiality and the constant pursuit of personal gain often seem to overshadow empathy, awareness and authenticity. The title Sick Society does not suggest that every individual is sick. It questions a culture that sometimes rewards the very behaviors that disconnect us from what makes us human. The character does not participate. She steps back and observes carefully.

Another aspect of the work explores the way women are often reduced to their appearance. Despite decades of progress, women continue to be judged, marketed, objectified and valued through a lens that is too often shaped by desire rather than individuality. The painting questions a society where image frequently matters more than character, and where human beings are encouraged to become products instead of people. Yet this is not a pessimistic artwork. It is a call for awareness. A reminder to think independently, to remain conscious of the influences surrounding us, and to protect our values in a world that constantly tries to redefine them. Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is step back, observe, and take the temperature of the world before deciding whether you want to follow it.
